This melodious songster is an excellent mimic and one of Australia's most recognised birds. Its back feathers are colored black in NSW and white in Southern and Western Australia.
Living in groups with a dominant male, its territorial attacking humans that venture too close to its nest during the breeding season.
It eats insects small reptiles, birds and worms.
